Social media community guidelines

Guidelines for engaging with the National AI Centre on social media, including behaviour expectations and moderation approach.

We welcome thoughtful discussion and encourage people to share experiences, questions and perspectives about using AI responsibly and effectively. 

Using our social media channels

When you engage with the National AI Centre on social media, we expect that you: 

  • share your own views and do not impersonate others 
  • treat others with respect, even where opinions differ 
  • keep conversations constructive and relevant 
  • communicate in a way that is lawful and appropriate 

We do not allow content that: 

  • is abusive, harassing, threatening or deliberately provocative 
  • uses hateful, obscene or offensive language 
  • incites hatred or discrimination against individuals or groups, including on the basis of race, marital or domestic status, gender, disability, age or sexuality 
  • is defamatory or makes unproven accusations 
  • misleads or spreads false information about AI or its use 
  • infringes intellectual property rights 
  • promotes commercial products or services 
  • is overtly party political 
  • links to non‑government websites (except verified Australian government .gov.au sites) 
  • refers to legal matters subject to court orders or ongoing proceedings 

 You must also comply with relevant Australian laws when posting. 

How we manage and moderate content

Our goal is to keep the National AI Centre social media channels useful, safe and constructive. 

If content does not meet these guidelines, we may: 

  • hide or remove comments 
  • limit or block repeat offenders 

If you believe we have moderated content in error, you can contact us and we will review the issue.

We are not responsible for: 

  • the views expressed by other users 
  • advertising content 
  • links to external websites or platforms 

Comments posted on our channels represent the views of the individual author and do not reflect the views of the National AI Centre or the Australian Government. We do not guarantee that information shared in comments is accurate, current or complete.
